We wanted to announce this great news for a long time, but we can finally do it officially.
The new section of shoes designed by Javier Barrio is now available on our website!
A new line of exclusive shoes, the result of a laborious process and with an exquisite design. Thanks to their design, they provide perfect comfort and convenience to accompany you during your special events.
Available in a wide variety of colors and designs, designed for you to choose together with the Javier Barrio dresses that you like the most: Red Carpet, Gala, Cocktail, Jumpsuits… A perfect tandem that exudes elegance, design and good taste at the same time.
This section is the result of a lot of effort, dedication and an exciting process that we would love to share with all of you. All of them are made of leather, so they become the most recommended to guarantee the comfort and protection of the feet. Resistance and flexibility are the main characteristics of the goatskin used in these shoes, both in the cut and in the lining. Comfortable to walk and adaptable to any type of foot. The goatskin is of high quality, its structure is very compact and the metallic finish gives the models an elegant and modern look.
Production process of handmade shoes
These shoes are the result of a complex and laborious process that consists of the following steps:
- Design and manufacture of lasts: The designer draws the model and chooses materials and colors, taking into account fashion and emerging trends. Once the collection is designed, the factory begins creating the lasts.
- Draw the patterns: Once the lasts are ready, the modeler begins to work. Draw the patterns on card stock and make adjustments to the models on the lasts to shape the design. These patterns will be transferred to cardboard and will be used later to cut the leathers that will adapt perfectly to the last.
- Cutting process: The hides go through a rigorous quality control, checked to remove those that are in poor condition. Once selected, the models are cut by hand and in goatskin.
- Dressing section: The cutting pieces arrive at the dressing section where all the pieces are joined by hand and the shoes go through multiple processes (sewing, shaving, chopping, folding, etc.). This is one of the most complex and time consuming sections in shoe production and the least recognized.
- Mechanics section: After passing the dressing process, we obtain the complete cut and the shoe passes the mechanics section, where the complete shoe is formed with all its components, by using machines that are handled manually. The shoes are introduced by hand one by one in the machines by professionals of the sector to mold the upper and lining and join it to the different components. In this section, the shoes are completely finished.
- Warehouse section: Finally, we go to the warehouse section, where for convenience a small sponge is placed on which the goat lining plant is placed. In this section the shoe is cleaned and given a gloss or matte finish depending on the type of leather to finally put it in the box, pack it and send it to the stores.
What are the components of handmade shoes?
The basic components for the creation of these shoes are:
- A cardboard plant that has a steel shank to provide rigidity.
- A padding on the metatarsals to offer greater comfort.
- The back of the plant, commonly called the heel, is made of a red cardboard called bartoli.
- For its part, the heel is made of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) from Bayer P2 Mat and also contains 30% polycarbonate, specific components for use in high and thin heels.
- In addition, a steel rod is integrated to reinforce and prevent breakage.
- The buttress is used in covered heel shoes and can be made of different materials depending on the needs. In this case the material used is relion.
- The soles used for these models are made of imitation leather rubber (vulcanized rubber).
